The Legend The Myth
They are known as "Ka Huaka'i Po" or "The Night Marcher". They are the ghost warriors of high rank. They often march on certain nights to welcome new warriors or just to march in the old battlegrounds. They permit no disturbances from mortals but if you look into their eyes or stand in their way, they will take your soul. It is quite easy to recognize them for they
beat their drums, light the skies
with their torches, chant and their feet don't touch the ground.
Many people say they have either seen the night marchers' torches or have heard their drums. A famous place where the night marchers often march is along the Pali Highway on Oahu. This is a steep highway which runs along the Ko`olau Mountain range where the famous battle against Kamehameha was fought. The old saying is to never go across the Pali Highway at night or else... you'll
know when you experience things such as
hearing the drums beat or Hawaiian
chants.
If you're ever in that situation remember, look downwards and stay out of there path.
